Creation Care Team

The Christ Church Creation Care Committee mission is to lead our church community in caring for God's creation and all life on earth by reducing our carbon footprint.

The Episcopal Covenant to the Care of Creation states that “In Jesus, God so loved the whole world. We follow Jesus, so we love the world God loves. Concerned about the global climate emergency, drawing from a range of approaches for our diverse contexts, we commit to form and restore loving, liberating, life-giving relationships with all of Creation.”

The Christ Church Creation Care Committee leads our church community by educating our congregation, facilitating changes within our church, supporting greater Plymouth community efforts and practicing stewardship as individuals. Our goal is to preserve resources, eliminate waste, and save money through the promotion of recycling, reducing energy use, decreasing the use of paper, and advocating green product and renewable energy use. In 2022 we are focusing our efforts on converting our campus to solar energy.

Over 140 churches in Massachusetts have implemented solar, so we are grateful to have so many resources for lessons learned and recommendations. That said, we have lots to learn and a project of this scope at Christ Church will require support from stakeholders across the parish.
